What we care for

White Cross Glenfield offers urgent care for accidents and injuries as well as complete general practice services, providing high-quality, low-cost healthcare for you and your whanau. We can help with urgent care for all manner of minor injuries, such as bumps, bruises, breathing problems, cuts, burns, sprains and strains. Our experienced team are skilled at quickly and carefully assessing and taking fast action. An ACC accredited clinic with extensive experience in high quality urgent care, we can help with everything from immediate assessment and treatment and can also support your recovery and return to health after an accidental injury.

Wherever needed, we can refer you to other services and provide prescriptions and referrals. With private x-ray services on-site and an after-hours pharmacy just over the road, it’s easy to get follow-up treatment and medications after your appointment if needed.

In our GP service, we emphasise health education and preventative medicine and are skilled in supporting patients to stay on top of health management. We provide treatment and ongoing support for complex longer term health issues, addressing chronic conditions like diabetes and asthma, and helping enrolled patients keep up to date with checks, screenings and immunisations. We provide whole-family healthcare, including care for babies and children.

Come see us for anything from minor accident care, minor surgery, liquid nitrogen treatments, cervical screening, IUCD Insertion, ECGs, check-ups and other general practice services. We can also help with immigration medical exams and are an approved provider for Immigration New Zealand.

How it supports Bettr

Bettr’s online service is the perfect complement to our clinics. Between the two you have convenience balanced with the comfort and confidence of complete general practice services through a regular doctor who is close to you, and urgent care services if you need those too. With White Cross Glenfield as your regular clinic, Bettr’s accessible online care provides a great backup if you need to check in with a doctor but either can’t, or don’t wish to see one in person.

Our team are well trained to provide a range of physical services that Bettr can’t do remotely, such as urgent care, minor procedures, examinations, tests, screens, ACC assessments and more. As part of the Tamaki Health network, Patients enrolled with our clinic network also benefit from reduced rates for Bettr appointments, at just $15 per appointment (or free for children under 14).

If you are given a prescription during your visit, you can organise repeat prescriptions through Bettr, or vice versa. With all our clinics and Bettr linked through the same system, your records are available wherever you need them.

Online or a clinic, which to choose?

If you are having a serious medical emergency such as severe injury, uncontrolled bleeding or trouble breathing, please call 111 straight away for an ambulance.

If your need is not life-threatening but you still have a more serious concern that needs attending (such as having an injury that needs immediate medical attention, or a baby with a high fever for example), then urgent care at White Cross Glenfield clinic will be suitable.

If your need isn’t urgent, but you’re still unsure whether to see a Bettr doctor or to visit a clinic, you might be surprised just how much we can take care of in an online consult. Most common health concerns can be tended to easily and effectively. Even repeat prescriptions are easy via Bettr. (Prescriptions for new or restricted medicines might require an in-person visit).

If you have had an online appointment but your Bettr doctor thinks you do need to see a doctor in-person, we’ll refer you to our nearest clinic. Your in-person visit will be either free, or you’ll just pay the cost difference between your original online appointment, and your in-person follow-up. Your Bettr doctor may refer you to Glenfield if we think you need to be seen urgently or if your health concern requires a physical treatment or test (like immunisations, a cervical, prostate or other exam, or skin tag and wart removal for example).
